Emerald is Pantone's Color of the Year!

It's hard to imagine that one company has this much power, but it's true.  Pantone LLC decides which colors are going to be in vogue for the current year and the years ahead for the entire WORLD!  They set the standard for trendy paint colors, fashion colors and virtually any other avenue that relies on a color palette system.  Still blows my mind regarding the sheer power of the decisions this company makes.

From the Pantone website:

Pantone is the world-renowned authority on color. For nearly 50 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity.

In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone's founder, created an innovative system for identifying, matching and communicating colors to solve the problems associated with producing accurate color matches in the graphic arts community. His insight that the spectrum is seen and interpreted differently by each individual led to the innovation of the PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM®, a book of standardized color in fan format.

Pantone has since expanded its color matching system concept to other color-critical industries, including digital technology, fashion, home, plastics, architecture and contract interiors, and paint. Today, the PANTONE Name is known worldwide as the standard language for accurate color communication, from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer, across a variety of industries. Pantone continues to develop color communication and inspirational tools, and aggressively adopts new digital technology to address the color needs of the creative community everywhere.

The top color choice this year is lovely EMERALD GREEN.   We already know that emerald is a beautiful, classic, regal and royal color but now we have the blessing of Pantone to use it with abandon in our jewelry designs.  Thanks for the nod of approval, Pantone! (insert sarcastic smiley here).

Check the shop to see all the items we offer in emerald!  Click the links at the top left hand side of the blog and simply type "emerald" in the search bar for a complete showing of the shop's offerings. We think you'll find a few beauties you like.
